Feeling Bad and The Barn

Today has been a bit of a tough day. I am in a funk, feeling a bit overworked and tired. Work has been a bit tough and I was out of my home Thursday and Friday at a Professional Development. I have an additional three days out this week and next administering state tests. It's a whole lot of fun {sarcasm} and I hate finding babysitters. Luckily I have some wonderful friends who always offer to watch Logan. Anyway, today I had to really focus on work and the little guy was giving me fits. He would not stop whining and throwing tantrums. I felt so bad, I yelled at him a couple times to just stop. Well, my husband comes home and immediately discovers that Logan is not feeling well. How horrible of a mother am I that I don't even notice that my son is a bit under the weather. Gotta love those little feelings of guilt. Thankfully, Logan has forgiven me and he is all smiles and cuddling right now.

This weekend, my little family was on the road to Target to get applesauce for dirt cheap. As we were passing a few stores, I noticed the cutest dress in a store window that I had to stop and try on. I was dismayed to see the store was the Dress Barn. I have always held firm that I will NEVER enter that store. Why would I want to go into a store that brings images of cows and pigs to my mind while I am trying on clothing? Well, the dress overpowered my resolve. I ended up coming out of the store with two dresses. I may have to revisit my former feelings and let myself enter that store once in a while. Hard, but I have the hardest time finding dresses that fit and that I love.

Oh, I did not get my super cheap applesauce. After trying on all the dresses, we had to get Logan home for his nap. He was NOT a happy camper.

Don't feel too guilty about not noticing. We've all got horror stories of ignoring our kids and finding out they were sick or hurt or in need of some compassion. My son fell and hurt his knee playing laser tag. He was in highschool and I kept telling him to suck it up and stop being a wuss....we found out a couple weeks later that he'd torn his ACL and needed surgery...NICE MOVE MOM. To this day he reminds me of what a bad mommy I was. And I always find nice things in the Dress Barn, but you're right...the name is just WRONG!
