Where Have I Been and a Decision

It's been quite awhile since I last posted. I have been busily packing, moving, and then unpacking!!! We are now in a town house and I absolutely love it. Although, I have discovered that I am now more likely to loose Logan's binkey's and such.

This year I have been trying to figure out my priorities and make my life a bit more simpler. I started this blog to jot down my feelings and ideas about life and my surroundings while keeping my family blog about my family. Well, I decided I am going to combine the two again. It is just easier and simpler for me. I am going to start posting more crafts I am creating, toddler activities, recipes I am using, and whatever else I discover along this path of being a wife, mother, and a woman.

I Don't Get It???

I watched a segment on the Today Show this morning on how much stay-at-home mothers would make. First off, I think it is a joke to even start thinking about how much a mother should get paid, but what got me was when it was stated that due to the economy mothers are working overtime. According to the segment, stay-at-home moms are working 56 hours a week of overtime. Maybe I am an idiot, but I didn't think you could get more than 24 hours in a day {okay I guess I am not parenting or cleaning or running errands while I am asleep, although I am still getting up in the middle of the night.} Please correct me if I am wrong.

Life is Beautiful

I'm in a bit of a rut and haven't been able to get out of it for a few weeks. Isn't life joyous that we get to go through these downer periods so we can appreciate when we are living the good life! When I am in these ruts, I try to focus on what is bright in my life.

I read this today and thought I would share what is beautiful in my life right now.

Life is beautiful because...
  • My little boy is trying to say new words everyday.
  • My husband is very supportive.
  • I am not on top of Mount Everest stranded in a cyclone storm (last night I watched a PBS documentary on the two exhibitions who lost many of their members.)
  • Our health is great!
  • I am moving to a bigger place!
  • It's Spring and I love the green trees.
  • I am in love with the green walls we painted
  • My family is coming to visit in three weeks
  • All the creative projects I can start once we are moved
  • I received my Mother's Day present early and absolutely love it!
  • I bought a snazzy camera strap from here.
  • I am waiting to receive one of these.
  • It is a rainy day {I love rainy days!!!}
  • It's May!
  • I have wonderful friends
  • My faith in God.
Happy May Day!

Enjoying the Sound of the Air Conditioner

It is quiet here in my household. No phones are ringing, no students are on the computer, and no boy to keep an eye on.

{He is supposed to be sleeping but is happily content in his crib.}

I feel relaxed and happy. All I hear is the air conditioner running. I absolutely LOVE that sound. It reminds me of lazy, summer days. It makes me feel stress free and thirst for a Popsicle. I see beautiful, blue skies and feel the hot air radiate off my face.

I love 90 degree weather in April.

Determined

Answer: Colorless. Drab. Mundane. Stale. Dull.

Question: Describe Becky's life these past few weeks.

I am soooo incredibly boring lately. Blah, blah blah. I have nothing of interest to say or even anything much fun going on. Where did my curiosity go? Where did my love of learning go? Where did my silly everyday moments go? Where is the laughter? Where is my spontaneity?

In answering these questions, I decided I am going to make myself just a bit more interesting every day. I am going to read more and develop my interests and talents. Not only that, and maybe more importantly, I am going to make life fun again by dancing, singing at the top of my lungs, and just laughing and being silly more. I am going to take life less serious and enjoy these sunny Spring days. Life is good, especially when I am interesting.

Now off to finish reading Man's Search for Meaning. Fantastic Book!
